Foot to da flo’

Okay, so I talk a little funny sometimes. I’m originally from south Louisiana:)

It’s “Foot to the floor”, you know…on the accelerator in your car.

Anyhow, that’s what I’ve had to do this year. Stomp down on the gas of faith and blow right through the barriers.

Since making the decision to follow God and pursue the path of writing and selling a Christian marriage ebook, the devil has tried running me off the road at every opportunity. Much of the time I’ve just kinda laughed and handed it over to God, but I got really fed up the other day. For pretty much a whole day, I had to do as David did in 1 Samuel 30:6 and strengthen myself in the Lord.

Here are some quick examples over the past few months:
– a water line to our house sprung a leak and turned our front yard into a swamp
– when the water was turned back on after getting the leak fixed and the huge hole filled back in, our toilet broke and almost all of the internal workings had to be replaced
– our microwave quit working (boy that was a long 1 1/2 weeks of not being able to simply “heat something up”:)
– the starter on my car died, leaving my wife and youngest son stranded at the grocery store (the day I got fed up:(
– etc

Now those are just some tangible examples, not to mention any of the attacks emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. Whew!

I don’t mention these things to whine or give the devil his due. I mention them only in passing to declare that God has been good and taken care of every one of these problems. I will readily admit that I am NOT the handyman type, but He gave me the skills to quickly fix much of these things on my own, without any problems.

And boy am I grateful.

Secondly, I mention these barriers to say that apparently I’m on the path God wants for me, because the devil has been pulling out all the stops on the attacks.

But through all of that, here are a couple of scriptures that have been a source of encouragement:

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

And another one of my absolute favorites:

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57

If you’ve experienced similar circumstances, don’t let the devil knock you off your path. Especially if you think God is leading you somewhere specific, keep on God’s road for He’s got a great destination for you.
