Valentine’s Day Tips to Use Throughout the Year

That romantic day of the year is here again. And if you’re like me, it may have snuck up on you.

To me it seems to come too quickly after Christmas. But then again, maybe spouses need to restart the romance after the stress that tends to come with the Christmas holidays.

Valentine’s Day is a great day to do something nice and romantic for your spouse. But even better than limiting it to that one day, it’s a great starting point to begin a round of year long romance.

Is Your Marriage on Your New Year’s Resolutions List?

It’s the time of year when we all start thinking about the goals we’d like to accomplish in the new year. Maybe some of those goals are to lose weight, quit smoking, start exercising, get promoted, or make more money.

Unfortunately, many times, having better relationships doesn’t even cross our minds. We think something like marriage is just going to take care of itself, without making a conscious effort to really work at it.

Marriage Bible Verse of the Week - Receive & Give the Gift of Patience

It’s that wonderful time of the year…or is it?

Christmas is great. It’s that time where we celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ.

It’s the time when families come together and get to spend quality time with one another. Uh-oh, that’s also when, for many people, that “wonderful time of the year” turns into “I can’t wait until Christmas is over.”

Are you looking forward to Christmas with a small (or large) sense of dread in seeing various family members and in-laws?

Make Every Day Valentine’s Day with Romance in Your Marriage

Valentine’s Day is now upon us. If you haven’t gotten your significant other something yet, whether it be a card, candy, flowers, or whatever, quit reading this and go do that right now.

Okay, you’re back. Whew, that was a close call.

You’re probably looking at the title of this post and thinking “What is he talking about? Romance more than the once a year at Valentine’s? I can barely keep up this pace!”

Don’t Leave This Out of Your New Year’s Resolutions

Another year has flown by, causing us to wonder once again, “where did the time go?”

For some, this past year was a good one, but for others, they’d rather forget it ever happened.

Unfortunately for many couples, their marriages fell into the latter category. A great deal of pain, failure, and heartache over the past year was due to problems in the marriage relationship.

Happy New Year!

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year.

This past year was a weird one for my family. Not only did I get laid off from my job early in the year, but everything in my house seemed to hit a simultaneous expiration date for working properly. My wife is washing dishes by hand as I type because our dishwasher conked out right after Thanksgiving. It’s not that big of a deal, except that it’s just part of a long list of things breaking throughout the year.

A Merry Christmas It Is

I hope everyone had as good a Christmas as we did.

My wife’s parents and my brother helped our immediate family wipe out the dressing, giblet gravy, sweet potatoes, and cajun injected turkey.

We weren’t able to see my parents for Christmas, but at least we had been able to visit them in Baton Rouge for Thanksgiving.

We have a lot to be thankful for. Most importantly, thank you God for the gift of your son Jesus Christ. Man I’m blessed!

The In-Laws Are Coming, The In-Laws Are Coming! Dealing With Family Visits

My in-laws are coming from Ohio to stay with us in a few days. How do you think I feel about that?

If you’re like many people, you may think that I’m dreading it. Well, I’m one of those rare people that actually like my wife’s parents. I’m glad they’re able to visit and wish that we had the opportunity to see them more often.

Thanksgiving: Does the Turkey Get More Gratitude Than Your Spouse?

Turkey, dressing, gravy…mmm, those are some things to be thankful for.

If you’re like many people on Thanksgiving day, you contemplate those things that you’re thankful for in your life. Maybe you even share a few things with family members over that delicious, traditional meal. But why wait until this one day every year to show some gratitude?

When was the last time you were thankful for your spouse? Or better yet, when was the last time you expressed your gratitude for who your spouse is and what they do?
